Blue Hole

The Blue Hole is a wonderful place to relax and enjoy the breathtaking views. This 30 foot deep, spring fed swimming hole is full of crystal clear water and stays a constant 72 degrees. Magnificent 35 foot high limestone cliffs and a seasonal waterfall surround this area.

Cistern Tower

The Cistern Tower is located just above the Ranch House. It is a 20 foot high lookout platform with benches next to to windmill. The tower is an ideal place to sit, relax, and watch the sun set.

Bridge Trailhead

The trailhead is located just above the bridge crossing of Carpers Creek. The bridge itself is part of an old railway cart. The trailhead is the start of four marked trails that vary in lenght. All of the trails lead to undeveloped areas of the ranch. Maps and written guides are available at the office or from your host.

Outdoor Chapel

John Knox.s out chapel rests on the edge of a bluff that drops down sharply to Carper's Creek. The chapel offers outstanding views and is a beautiful place for meditation and worship.

Lookout Point

The 30 foot high observation tower is located on one of the highest points of the ranch. It provides spectacular views of the entire ranch and beyond. It is also a great place to watch the sun rise or set.

The Fossil Beds

The fossil beds are located on the dinosaur dig trail. This area reveals fossils 105 million years old from an exposed coral reef.

Wildlife Observation Area

For wildlife enthusiasts this area offers opportunities to view many of the animals that call John Knox Ranch home. Sit and relax in the viewing room as you may watch birds, squirrels, deer, and more. For the best viewing results, come at dawn or dusk.
